This site came about quite innocently. I was working in a retail store that sold tropical fish and I would have to bag them for the customers. When I was younger, we had a lot of fish as pets, but never betta fish. Back when I was growing up, they were called Siamese Fighting Fish. The big fish that you see in the pet store are all males. You can only put one in a fish bowl. You have to keep them separated or they will fight to the death. They looked evil and scary in their little bowls. There was no way that my mother would think of buying one of those for us, and we really didn’t want one.

I started questioning the customers that bought them when they came in the store. They all told me that they made great pets. They came in such pretty colors that I started to want one. I bought one and found out that everyone was right. I loved my betta fish! Everyone that came to visit me saw my betta fish and wanted one too. Soon we all had betta fish! Then we started to see more betta fish in pretty colors and we had to buy those too. I started thinking that I had to make a website about this. Everyone needs a betta fish!
